Our go-to mountain wool short — rethought from the fabric up.
MOUNTAIN WOOL SHORTS 2
We started with the fabric
The original MOUNTAIN WOOL brought wool's temperature control and polyester's performance into a single shirt — a staple for moving between mountain and city. This update keeps that ease, but rethinks the fabric itself. We chose a tropical wool woven from 100s two-ply yarn: a light, plain-woven cloth made from fine wool, known for its airflow and crisp, dry hand.
Not woven too tight, so heat has somewhere to go. It feels supple in the hand, and lighter than before. The first thing you'll notice is how light it sits the moment you slip it on.

A silhouette shaped on the mountain
With the MOUNTAIN WOOL SHORTS 2, our first priority was simple: they should never get in your way on the climb, where your legs need their full range of motion. The relaxed cut lets you drive your knees high without a hint of restriction — and that same shape turns out to be a modern silhouette that works just as well off the trail.
Pair them with the MOUNTAIN WOOL SHIRT 2 and you've got a refined spring–summer set-up. And, true to HERENESS, the phone pocket is here as ever. We've also swapped the original's snap buttons for standard sewn-on buttons, making repairs that much easier.

Why non-mulesed merino wool?
New Zealand has decided to ban mulesing (the process of removing skin from sheep buttocks), and the wool we use is 100% sourced from Merino sheep in New Zealand. We believe that wool is a gift from sheep, and we should not support any practices that cause in their suffering. As a brand promoting the benefits of wool, we are committed to advocating for animal welfare.
